TOSHIBA BEGINS EDUCATION CAMPAIGN

Toronto-based ACLC Advertising has created a new campaign to promote Toshiba of Canada notebook computers. Called "Education is Everywhere," the campaign is running nationally in English and French. The radio and print ads depict student situations with copy made from the names of post-secondary courses. One print ad shows a cluttered student room with the copy, "Comm 340.3 Organizational Behaviour." In one radio ad, two underage students try to order beer in a pub. The waitress says, "Can I see some ID?" An announcer says, "Physiology 310: The Study of Aging." One student says he left his ID at home. The announcer says, "Drama 112: Introduction to Theatre." The campaign also includes a 30-second email ad sent to students who entered a previous Toshiba contest. Also, four promotional workers will visit places popular with students in a Toshiba-branded vehicle to take pictures of students posing with various course codes. The pictures will be emailed to the students. An undisclosed stunt currently is also being planned to take place in Toronto.
