ROGERS CABLE SCREENS HOT SHOTS WINNING ENTRIES
By Adnews Staff
Rogers Cable screened the nine winning entries in the "Hot Shots" ad competition yesterday. The contest, which began in June, invited filmmakers to submit ideas for a television commercial promoting Rogers Hi-Speed Internet service. An entry by Brad Horvath and Erin MacMillan broke on television yesterday. The ad, called "Old Men," depicts two elderly men in a nursing home racing for a piece of pie. "This ad was well written and produced, and fits best with our overall marketing theme that Rogers Yahoo Hi-Speed Internet is the number one in speed," said John Munro, vice-president of marketing for Rogers Cable. Rogers plans to use at least one more of the submitted ads. That commercial will be chosen by an online public vote that will begin on Aug. 16. The winning ads will air in the fall.
