IMPAIRED DRIVING COUNCIL RELEASES PSA CAMPAIGN

The Ontario Community Council on Impaired Driving, in association with Ontario Students Against Impaired Driving, Student Life Education, Smart Risk and the Ontario Ministry of Transportation, has released two television public service announcements promoting safe, sober driving. In the first 30-second ad, race car driver Paul Tracy delivers the tagline, "Drive Straight. Drive Sober. Drive Smart." The second ad, also 30-seconds long, presents musician Amy Nodwell performing a song called "That Spilt Second." Both ads are intended to remind drivers of the need for a clear head and control at the wheel to "keep yourself and your passengers safe." The ads have been distributed to broadcasters in Ontario. According to Anne Leonard of the council, the organization has also had requests for the ads from outside the province. The PSAs will also be used in educational video for young and new drivers that will be distributed to Ontario high schools this fall.
