CANADIAN SPOTS FOR UNDIES GO SOUTH

Fruit of the Loom has budgeted $30 million for advertising in the U.S. this year, most of it to run TV commercials imported from Canada. Yesterday the company started airing the humorous "Stuck in the middle with you" campaign which has won a number of awards for the Toronto office of Leo Burnett Co. Three other campaigns from Burnett in Toronto are also scheduled to run south of the border: for women's nylon underwear, starting in April; for men's underwear, the end of May; and for casual wear, in the fall. The clothing company is also thinking about running the Canadian creative in Mexico and Puerto Rico. U.S.-based Burnett has the Fruit of the Loom account around the world.
