YWCA RELEASES TWO PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENTS

YWCA Canada has distributed two television public service announcements to Canadian networks. The ads were created pro-bono by Zig of Toronto. Elaine Teofilovici, chief executive officer of YWCA Canada, said the campaign presents "a snapshot into how women cope with domestic violence." The first ad shows a woman practicing locking herself in a bathroom. The second ad shows a woman leaving a house. The footage is then rewound and displayed again. A voiceover says it takes a woman on average five times to leave an abusive relationship permanently. Both ads use the new YWCA logo, which incorporates a bolder letter "W". The logo was also created by Zig.
