ONYX MARKETING GROUP TO CLOSE
By Adnews Staff
Toronto-based promotional agency Onyx Marketing Group is set to close. The company's founder and president Janine Maxwell has decided to work full-time on an organization she founded called the Hopes and Dreams Team. The organization raises funds to purchase medical supplies and build facilities for children in Africa affected by HIV and AIDS. Maxwell has referred her staff and clients to Toronto-based competitor Fuse Marketing Group. Garo Keresteci, president of Fuse, said that not all Onyx staff will join the agency because of duplication. He also said the firm is in discussions with various Onyx clients, and Kellogg and Famous Players have shifted their work to Fuse. There is no previous relationship between Fuse and Onyx, Kerseteci said, maintaining that the two firms were "respectful competitors."
