FUTURE SHOP PREPARES BONFIRE PROMOTION

Burnaby, BC-based consumer electronics retailer Future Shop is preparing to promote a new digital music download service, which will go into operation on June 12. The service, called "Bonfire at Futureshop.ca," will be a branded version of the Toronto-based Puretracks music download service. The site will sell approximately 250,000 songs which can be purchased and downloaded individually or by album. Payment will be accepted by credit card or by prepaid Bonfire cards to be sold in various denominations at Future Shop stores. Promotion for the service will include parties in Toronto and Vancouver the week before the launch and exposure in Future Shop's national flyer. As an introductory offer, Future Shop will bundle $10 Bonfire prepaid cards with certain MP3 players. Public relations for Future Shop are handled by Strategic Objectives of Toronto.
