DIRECT ENERGY BEGINS MINOR SOCCER INITIATIVE

Calgary-based energy company Direct Energy Preferred has undertaken an initiative with the Edmonton Minor Soccer Association and the Calgary Minor Soccer Association called "KidPower." The multi-year program will involve support for 500 soccer teams representing approximately 8,000 children under the age of eight. The company will provide branded jerseys, balls, bags, goals, photographs and cash to participating teams. The effort will be promoted with ads in community newspapers in Calgary and Edmonton. The initiative will also include a clinic for volunteer coaches and title sponsorship of the association's Minifest tournament. The program is being managed by TrojanOne. "Direct Energy Preferred's KidPower program is an unprecedented initiative in both its breadth and depth," said David Finch of TrojanOne. "It's strength and uniqueness lie in the fact that KidPower was developed as a core pillar of Direct Energy's retail market launch in Alberta."
