CMA INTRODUCES DIGITAL MARKETING RULES
By Adnews Staff
The Canadian Marketing Agency has introduced a set of digital marketing rules for its 800 corporate members. The rules, now part of the association's existing Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice, apply to any marketing communications delivered through digital media, including e-mail and text messaging. Under the rules, CMA members must obtain a consumer's consent before disclosing their e-mail address to a third party, must use the e-mail address only for the purpose disclosed to the consumer, must clearly identify the CMA member and source of the e-mail, and must provide recipients with a simple means to opt-out of receiving further e-mail communications.
