MEDIA AWARENESS NETWORK PREPARES WEB SAFETY CAMPAIGN

Ottawa-based Media Awareness Network, along with a group of corporations including Microsoft Canada and Bell Canada, will break a public awareness campaign today called "Be Web Aware." The initiative, aimed at parents, describes the benefits and risks of the Internet. The campaign is also provides advice for keeping children safe while online. Radio and television ads will begin running today. Print and outdoor creative will begin later this month. The creative directs parents to a Web site at <http://www.bewebaware.ca> for additional information. The campaign will run until mid-April. The advertising was created by MacLaren McCann of Toronto. Public relations are being handled by Media Profile, also based in Toronto.
