PRIMUS PROMOTES INTERNET PHONE SERVICE
By Adnews Staff
Primus Telecommunications Canada is promoting a new Internet-based residential phone service called TalkBroadband with a multi-media advertising campaign. TalkBroadband offers local telephone service to consumers that have high-speed Internet service. Customers can choose to keep their existing telephone number (in serviceable areas) or can add on a new line. Those setting up a new line have the option of picking an area code and phone number from a city other than where they live. Initial cities available include Toronto, Ottawa, Hamilton, Montreal, Vancouver, Calgary and Edmonton. The advertising campaign will have a focus on each of the seven cities. A series of five radio ads will begin running today. Each ad discusses a specific benefit the TalkBroadband service offers. Transit shelter advertising in Toronto and Vancouver, direct response marketing including direct mail and inserts, online advertising and public relations will also promote the launch of TalkBroadband. In the coming months, Primus said it will expand its service to include additional cities/area codes and will also introduce a broadband phone service for larger business customers. Advertising for TalkBroadband was created by FCB Direct of Toronto. Public relations for Primus are handled by Environics Communications, also of Toronto.
