Manitoba Telecom Services has acquired the naming rights to True North Sports & Entertainment's True North Centre in Winnipeg. Construction of the sports and entertainment centre is expected to be complete by November 2004. Features of the venue, which will be called MTS Centre, includes seating for over 15,000 hockey fans, a maximum capacity of over 17,000 for centre stage concerts, private suites, rental party suites, a theme restaurant and lounge. When it opens, MTS Centre will be the home of the American Hockey League's Manitoba Moose. The ten-year deal between MTS and True North allows MTS to leverage advertising properties including the scoreboard, the ribbon board and other locations and provides opportunities for the two to partner on various initiatives. Financial details of the agreement were not disclosed.
