FRITO LAY INTRODUCES NEW TASTES OF CANADA FLAVOURS
By Adnews Staff
Frito Lay Canada has released two new flavours of potato chip in its ongoing Tastes of Canada promotion: Cape Breton Sea Salt & Pepper and Toronto College Street Pizza. Each flavour is intended to represent a region of Canada. In May the company introduced the first two flavours in the line: Calgary's Wild Stampede BBQ and P.E.I. Loaded Baked Potato. During May and June, visitors to the Web site <http://www.lays.ca> were invited to vote for the next two flavours. The other choices were Montreal Marche Jean-Talon Herb & Garlic and Whistler Cool Dill. Special packaging has been designed for the new flavours, incorporating images "Tastes Ambassadors" from the two regions on the chip bags. The Cape Breton packaging will feature professional fiddler Bonny Jean MacDonald. The College Street bags will picture Jack and Tonina Ministro of Capitol Trattoria Pizzeria. Frito Lay has also begun a new round of online voting. The contending flavours are Banff Rocky Mountain Ranch, Ottawa Maple BBQ and Quebec Four Cheese. The winning flavour will be announced in March 2004. Strateco is handling the packaging and in-store materials for this campaign. Proximity is doing the Web site design. Public relations are being handled by Ketchum.
