HOME DEPOT BEGINS DREAM CONTEST

The Home Depot Canada will begin an initiative called "Dream Bigger, Dream Better" on Monday. The grand prize in the contest is a $100,000 Home Depot Home Improvement Certificate. Other prizes include a $25,000 Home Depot Gift Card, three $5,000 Kitchen Cabinet Packages, 101 $500 Home Depot Gift Cards and a collection of Home Depot books. The company has also produced a 120-page catalogue called The Dream Book. Two and a half million copies of the catalogue will be printed, one million of which will be mailed directly to customers. According to Home Depot, a recent survey indicated that 61% of Canadians would rather spend a $100,000 gift on home improvements instead of a vacation or a luxury car. Marketing for the initiative includes in-store materials including billboard displays, buttons, aprons, signage, outdoor inflatables and outdoor banners. Also, current Home Depot national advertising will be tagged to promote the contest. The initiative was developed by The Marketing Store Worldwide of Toronto. Advertising for Home Depot is done by The Richards Group of Dallas, TX, except in Quebec where it is done by Cossette Communication-Marketing. Public relations for the retailer are handled by Weber Shandwick of Toronto.
