RCMP LAY CHARGES AGAINST MONTREAL AD EXECUTIVE

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police have charged Paul Coffin of Montreal-based Communication Coffin with 18 counts of fraud against the federal government. The charges are the first to be laid in the RCMP's investigation of the federal government's sponsorship program. Coffin is alleged to have submitted and collected $2 million in false invoices between 1997 and 2002. He was arrested and released and is to appear in court in Montreal on Nov. 18, the RCMP said. The investigation is ongoing. According to media reports, the RCMP is also investigating Montreal-based Groupaction Marketing.
