BC SPCA READIES NEW PSA FROM PJ DDB

Palmer Jarvis DDB of Vancouver has created a new campaign of public service announcements for the British Columbia Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. The campaign, called "Some things you can only do with a pet," includes four television commercials that depict people attempting to treat other people as they would pets. "We decided to avoid the usual tear-jerker creative and opt for a humorous approach focusing on the benefits of adopting a pet," said agency account director Scot Keith. "The message and creative cleverly shows people what they're missing by not adopting from the BC SPCA." The campaign will begin running in Famous Players theatres in BC on August 29, to coincide with the start of the society's Pet Adoption Month in September. The ads are also being distributed to television and cable stations in the province. Online promotion will take place at <http://www.spca.bc.ca>. The BC society also plans to encourage other SPCA chapters in Canada to pick up the campaign. Palmer Jarvis became the BC society's agency of record earlier this year. This campaign, created pro bono, is the agency's first work for the client.
