FRUIT MARKETING BOARD PREPARES PEACH GIVEAWAY

The Ontario Tender Fruit Producers' Marketing Board will promote the start of the Ontario freestone peach season with a one-day peach giveaway on Wednesday. This is the second year for this program. A group of promotional workers called the Ontario Peach Patrol will distribute 50,000 peaches to Go Transit commuters at Union Station in Toronto. Renee's Gourmet, which is co-sponsoring the event, will also distribute samples, coupons and recipes. The day's activities will also including cooking demonstrations and a Shave-A-Peach contest. The marketing board, which represents Ontario producers of peaches, pears, plums, prunes and cherries, has retained Faye Clack Communications of Mississauga to conduct the giveaway.
