The Government of Ontario unveiled a $5 million Event Marketing and Development Fund yesterday, intended to help Ontario communities revive their tourism industries and attract visitors. The fund will support marketing campaigns aimed at increasing attendance and visitor spending at festivals and other events. It will pay for up to 75 per cent of the marketing costs of eligible projects. Eligible applicants include event organizers and partnerships of individuals, businesses, community organizations and municipalities. The fund will be administered by the Ontario Tourism Marketing Partnership Corporation, which is an agency of the Ministry of Tourism and Recreation.
