CABLE TV ASSOCIATION APPLIES FOR CANADIAN DISTRIBUTION OF U.S. CHANNELS
By Adnews Staff
The Canadian Cable Television Association has filed an application with the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission requesting that U.S. stations including HBO, ESPN and Fox News be authorized for distribution in Canada on a digital-only basis. "We believe that adding popular U.S. services to digital will accelerate the digital transition and provide added lift to Canadian digital services that were launched in 2001," said association president and CEO Janet Yale. The CCTA is a national association that represents 90 Canadian cable companies.
