MICROCELL PROMOTES FREEDAY AIRTIME PACKAGE
By Adnews Staff
Montreal-based Microcell Solutions has introduced a new airtime package that offers customers one day per week of unlimited local airtime. Microcell's cellular telephone services are marketed under the name Fido. Users of the "Freeday" package can select any day of the week during which to receive free local calls. The package includes 250 minutes of airtime per month. Transit ads and radio commercials in major Canadian markets are promoting the package. Radio advertising broke on April 17, followed by transit advertising on April 21. These ads will run for about four weeks, according to Patrick Hadsitantelis, director of marketing for Microcell. Microcell has also released a new handset, the Sony Ericsson T300. The T300 has a colour screen and download images, ring tones and games. The T300 is being promoted at the retail level with in-store materials created by Montreal-based Bos, which handles advertising for Fido.
