TTC PROMOTES TORONTO
By Adnews Staff
The Toronto Transit Commission will begin an advertising campaign on Monday encouraging Toronto residents to get out and experience their own city. Various Toronto personalities will take part in the campaign, including Anne Rohmer, anchor of CablePulse24, Ed Mirvish, owner of Honest Ed's, the Royal Alex theatre and the Princess of Wales theatre, and National Post columnist Christie Blatchford. They will suggest ways to experience Toronto as a tourist, including taking in a show, staying at a hotel and trying a new restaurant. Ads will run on the public address system and message boards in TTC stations and in the free commuter newspaper Metro. The campaign's tagline is "Let's show the world what they're missing." According to Marilyn Bolton, public affairs supervisor for the TTC, the campaign is a way to address the economic impact on the city of the outbreak of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome. The creative for the campaign was developed in-house.
