ABC READIES 2003 GUTENBERG MEDIA GRAB

ABC Canada Literacy Foundation will begin its 2003 Gutenberg Media Grab on Monday. The week-long fundraiser will take place online at <http://www.abcmediagrab.ca>. Donated print media will be sold at 65% off its regular price. The annual initiative raises funds for ABC Canada's literacy awareness programs. Participating media outlets, including Maclean's, Canadian Living, Chatelaine, Canadian Business, National Post, Viacom Outdoor and Astral Media, have each donated one full-page colour ad or equivalent. Advertisers, marketing professionals and media buyers who register to participate will receive a password to access the sale. Each day will be devoted to a different medium. On Monday it will be newspapers. Tuesday will be business, city, news and general interest magazines, followed by fashion, home decor and women's interest magazines on Wednesday. Thursday's focus will be special interest magazines, while out-of-home media will be sold on Friday. ABC Canada promoted the event with invitations and print advertising in trade publications, folllowed by weekly emails. Also, past buyers were sent direct mail and email pieces.
