By Adnews Staff
The Canadian Magazine Publishers Association unveiled its 2003 national marketing campaign, which will promote Canadian-produced magazines, on Monday. In-store materials will be used at retail outlets nationally. Television and outdoor advertising will run through the spring and summer, while magazine ads will run until January 2004. A direct mail campaign is planned for the fall. National public relations support will include a cover competition, a three-city cover exhibition and a national magazine reading series. The association used a number of agencies for the different elements of the campaign. The creative was designed by one company. The direct mail campaign is being implemented by tattoo direct + digital. Public relations are being handled by Goodman Communications Group. All of these agencies are based in Toronto. The campaign materials display a "Genuine Canadian Magazine" icon which was designed by Hambley & Woolley, also of Toronto. In Quebec the association has hired Optimum Public Relations for a separate campaign. The slogan "Magazines d'ici" will continue to be used.
