INTERNET POPULAR IN CANADA
By Adnews Staff
About 20% of Canadians are using the Internet, with Ontario leading the way, according to a study by A.C. Nielsen Canada and Nordicity Group. Forty-two per cent of Canadian users live in Ontario. Quebec comes in second with 22%. The study found that over 487,000 people have made at least one purchase over the Internet, with more than half saying they'd do it again. The main advantage seen in shopping in cyberspace is convenience; the major drawback, lack of security. The majority of Net surfers are between the ages of 25 and 44., with males in a slight majority at 55%. Forty-four per cent have been on-line for less than six months and 43% classify their skill level as "beginner."
