NINTENDO PROMOTES GAME BOY ADVANCE SP

Vancouver-based Nintendo of Canada released its new Game Boy Advance SP handheld video game to stores on Saturday. A re-designed version of the original Game Boy Advance, the SP has improved screen lighting and a clam-shell design. It comes in cobalt and platinum colours and is compatible with all current and future Game Boy Advance games and accessories. Marketing support for the SP will include television and print promotion, slides and full-motion advertising in Famous Players theatres, events in Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto and Montreal, sampling in West 49 retail stores and Web materials at <http://www.nintendo.ca>. Nintendo will also sponsor the upcoming Juno Awards and will distribute Game Boy Advance SP systems to presenters and performers at the event. Advertising for Nintendo is done by Leo Burnett. Media planning any buying is handled by Starcom. Public relations are provided by GCI Group. All of these firms are based in Toronto. The original Game Boy was created in 1989. It was followed by the Game Boy Colour and Game Boy Advance.
