ROADRUNNERS RETAIN RIDDOCH
By Adnews Staff
The American Hockey League Toronto Roadrunners have hired riddochcommunications, also of Toronto, to handle marketing communications and design. The assignment encompasses advertising, direct mail, brochures, ticket design and other forms of promotion for the recently-established team. Riddoch won the account in a competition, described as "brief," involving an unknown number of firms. "We were impressed with their enthusiasm, experience and discipline," said the team's director of sponsorship and public affairs, David Garrick. "They didn't just throw a bunch of ads at us. They took a considered approach." The agency has already created some ads to promote the sale of season's tickets. A larger campaign to introduce the team to the city will take place in the fall. The Roadrunners will play their first home game at the under-construction Ricoh Coliseum at Exhibition Place on November 1.
