BLOCKBUSTER RELEASES NEW PET SHOP COMMERCIAL
By Adnews Staff
Toronto-based Blockbuster Canada will release a new commercial in its "Pet Shop" advertising campaign this week. The television campaign began last year. It depicts two characters, a rabbit named Carl and a guinea pig named Ray, who live in the window of a pet shop across the street from a Blockbuster store. The animals are voiced by actors James Woods and Jim Belushi. In the new commercial, called "Mouse Click," the animals drag a mouse in an effort to connect to the Internet. The ad will run nationally in English only. Another commercial called "Pass Out" will be released next week, according to Lori Ross, vice-president of marketing at Blockbuster. The two ads, along with the first five in the campaign, will run in rotation through 2003. The campaign was created by Doner Worldwide of Detroit, MI and adapted for Canada by Toronto-based Doner Canada.
