CANADIAN CANCER SOCIETY BEGINS VOLUNTEER RECRUITMENT EFFORT

The Ontario division of the Canadian Cancer Society has begun a media campaign to recruit 60,000 volunteers needed for the society's annual fundraising campaign. Called "Be A Face in the Fight Against Cancer," the recruitment campaign, created in-house, includes television and print public service announcements along with promotional materials. The PSAs are being distributed to Ontario media outlets while the promotional materials are being given to staff members to use locally, said Carrie Rands-Flanagan, manager of communications for the Ontario division of the society. The Canadian Cancer Society's annual fundraising effort is a national initiative that will take place in April. In addition to selling daffodils, volunteers go door-to-door to raise funds for cancer research and support services.
