ENERGIZER ACQUIRES SCHICK-WILKINSON

Energizer Holdings of St. Louis, MO has reached an agreement to acquire the Schick-Wilkinson Sword business from New York-based Pfizer for US$930 million. Schick-Wilkinson manufactures men's and women's wet shave products including the Xtreme 3, Protector, Slim Twin and Silk Effects lines. Energizer manufacturers batteries and flashlights. The deal, expected to close this spring, remains subject to governmental and regulatory approvals. "Energizer and Schick are very compatible, with many common customers, similar distribution channels, high speed manufacturing and product innovation capabilities, and corporate cultures," said Energizer CEO Pat Mulcahy. According to an AdAge report, Schick's ad agency is J. Walter Thompson of New York and Energizer's battery brands are handled by TBWA\Chiat\Day of Playa Del Rey, CA.
