ZIG WINS MAPLE LEAF FOODS PROTEIN ACCOUNT

Toronto-based Maple Leaf Foods has awarded the protein portion of its account to Zig of Toronto. The agency won the business over Taxi, FCB, Grip and incumbent Saatchi & Saatchi, all of Toronto, in a review. Zig will handle creative advertising for Maple Leaf's poultry and pork products. Media planning and buying will continue to be handled in-house. Maple Leaf's business relationships with the agencies handling advertising for its bakery and pasta brands are not affected, according to Ken Cross, vice-president of marketing for Maple Leaf Foods.
