MOLSON PROMOTES TEAM BUBBA

Montreal-based Molson is promoting an extension to the Molson Canadian mini-keg called Team Bubba. The 5L Bubba keg, introduced last spring, holds the equivalent of approximately 14 bottles of beer. The new promotion involves kegs bearing the colours and insignia of hockey teams. A Team Canada keg will be sold nationally, while kegs displaying the uniforms of the Edmonton Oilers, Toronto Maple Leafs, Calgary Flames, Ottawa Senators and Detroit Red Wings will be sold regionally. The Team Bubbas are being promoted with a 30-second television commercial called "Found Organ" which uses the character from the first Bubba commercial which ran in Ontario in the spring. The character arrives at the house of a group of friends with a pipe organ he has found. To celebrate the group goes to a beer store to buy a Bubba. The ad ends with the character playing the organ and saying, "Imagine finding someone's organ." In the eariler Bubba ad, the character arrives at the house with a slab of meat. After buying a keg, the group has a backyard barbecue. The new ad debuted during the Grey Cup broadcast. It will run in English Canada supported by in-arena billboards. The advertising was created by Bensimon Byrne D'Arcy of Toronto. Public relations for Molson are handled by Thornley Fallis Communications of Toronto.
