HEART DISEASE AWARENESS CAMPAIGN BEGINS

Sportscaster Rod Black, Olympic gold medallist Gaétan Boucher and golfer Sandra Post are participating in a campaign to raise awareness about high cholesterol and heart disease. The program, called "Making the Connection," was created by the Canadian Lipid Nurse Network, the Canadian Diabetes Association, Diabète Québec and Pfizer Canada. It is intended to educate Canadians about the dangers of high cholesterol and its link to heart disease. Black, Boucher and Post each have experience with high cholesterol through family members. They will participate in various activities and public appearances. The "Making the Connection" program was created a year and a half ago. In addition to activities and forums, the program includes a Web site at <http://www.makingtheconnection.ca> and a toll-free information line. Public relations for the program are handled by the Toronto and Montreal offices of Edelman Public Relations.
