BMG CANADA AND CINEPLEX ODEON BEGIN JOINT PROMOTION

BMG Canada and Cineplex Odeon have begun a joint promotion during which consumers will receive a free movie ticket with the purchase of certain BMG CDs. Galaxy Cinemas and Empire theatres are also participating in the promotion. The offer will run until March 31, 2003. Consumers receive the tickets by mailing in holographic stickers on from CD cases. A multi-media advertising campaign including theatre, television and online advertising is promoting the ticket offer. In-store materials at retailers including HMV, Music World, Wal-Mart, Zellers, Future Shop, A&B, CD-Plus and Archambault are also being used. The television and theatre advertising was created by Embassy Productions. The in-store materials were created by BMG. According to the company, the ticket offer is part of a larger strategy that also includes adding bonus audio discs and DVDs to CDs to make purchasing them more attractive a younger demographic.
