MCKENZIE HAS NEW WAY TO SOW SEEDS

A.E. McKenzie Co. Inc. of Brandon, Manitoba is bringing its Biomat seed growing mats to the Canadian market this spring. Biomats consist of seeds sandwiched between two layers of biodegradeable wood fibre, a by-product of the pulp industry. A patented treatment is used to inhibit weed growth. The product has been in the U.S. for a year and has had sales of over $1 million(US). Advertising for Biomats is done by the retailers. In addition, McKenzie will begin distributing White Swan garden decor products this spring. U.S.-based White Swan makes stone and bronze garden sculptures such as hummingbirds, dolphins, ducks, butterflies, bunnies, bears and squirrels. Advertising for these products will also be handled by retailers.
