ENGINEERING CAMPAIGN TARGETS HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS
By Adnews Staff
A new campaign aimed at Canadian high school students has been created by the Association of Consulting Engineers of Canada. Called "Generation-E," the campaign encourages youths, particulary those in grades nine to 11, to consider engineering as a career. It includes teacher and guidance counsellor kits and a Web site at <http://www.generation-e.ca>. The teacher kits contain four projects for students. The kits for guidance counsellors include information about engineering careers. The Web site offers online training for teachers and guidance counsellors as well as resources for students. The start of the campaign is being supported with an online contest in conjunction with MuchMusic and MusiquePlus. Students who visit the Generation-e.ca Web site through the MuchMusic or Musique Plus Web sites may win $40,000 in computer equipment. The campaign was created by Blueprint Public Relations, Stiff Sentences and Everst Communications, all of Ottawa.
