CANADA INVESTMENT AND SAVINGS STARTS SAVINGS BONDS CAMPAIGN

Canada Investment and Savings began a sales campaign for New Canada Savings Bonds today. The campaign was created by Vickers & Benson Companies Ltd. of Toronto. It includes an infomercial, outdoor, television and print advertising and two contests. The 30-minute direct response TV program is a new component in the annual sales effort. It is intended to educate Canadians regarding the benefits of saving with Canada Premium Bonds and Canada Savings Bonds. It will run in Ontario and Quebec until December. The campaign's outdoor component has been expanded this year to include billboards and posters in Halifax and Vancouver in addition to Toronto and Montreal. The ads show Canadians achieving their savings goals along with copy such as "Grow your own condo" and "Grow your own college education." Canada Investment Savings has teamed up with Maclean's and L'actualité magazines to hold another "Tell Us Your CBS Story" contest this year. The organization has also created an online contest aimed at young people in partnership with YTV and TVA. That initiative is intended to communicate to youths 8 to 12 years of age the importance of saving. Public relations for Canada Investment and Savings are handled by Goodman Communications of Toronto.
