DAIMLERCHRYSLER CANADA TO UNVEIL NEW JEEP LOGO

DaimlerChrysler Canada will unveil a new logo for its Jeep vehicles in two 30-second television commercials breaking later this month. The logo is the first for the Jeep brand. It depicts the grille, headlights and windshield of the TJ model with the Jeep name displayed on the windshield. The logo will be accompanied by the return of the "Only in a Jeep" tagline used in Jeep advertising in the late 1980s. The ads, which will run nationally, were created by BBDO Detroit and adapted for Canada by BBDO Toronto. The first will promote the Jeep TJ. In it, three men and three women meet up at a specific set of latitude and longitude co-ordinates. The second ad will promote the Jeep Renegade. In it, a driver returns a stranded seal pup to its mother by creating a hole in an ice surface. The TV commercials will be followed by print advertising incorporating the new logo and tagline.
