BORLAND APPOINTS MAVERICK

Borland Software Corp. has ended its search for a Canadian public relations agency by hiring Toronto-based Maverick Public Relations. Borland is based in Scotts Valley, CA. Its Canadian operation, Borland Canada Inc., is based in Markham, ON. Maverick was one of three finalists in the competition. Weber Shandwick and incumbent Cohn & Wolfe were the other two. Maverick will be responsible for Borland's Canadian media relations and customer reference program. The agency will also work with the company's in-house marketing and PR staff to attempt to increase Borland's brand presence in Canada. Borland hired Outcast Communications of San Francisco as its U.S. public relations agency last month.
