NADBANK RELEASES 2002 INTERIM STUDY REPORT

NADbank has released its 2002 Interim Report, which contains readership and demographic data for 67 Canadian daily newspapers in 46 markets. According to the study, 56% of adults 18 years of age and over had read a newspaper daily, 63% had read a newspaper on a weekend and 76% of adults had read one issue of a daily newspaper in a week. There are 11.7 million weekly readers in the top 17 markets, 10.3 million in the top ten markets and approximately 8 million in markets of Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa/Hull, Calgary and Vancouver. Approximately 2.4 million adults had read an issue of The Globe and Mail in the average week while 1.8 million had read the National Post. In Windsor, 88.9% of adults had read a newspaper in the past week, the highest readership of any market with a population over 150,000. Winnipeg's readership was at 88.4% and St. John's was third with 86.8%. The study will be released to NADbank members in two stages. Readership and demographic data will be released now, while product data will be released in October.
