AMAZON.CA CREATES ONLINE BOUTIQUES FOR TORONTO, VANCOUVER FILM FESTIVALS
By Adnews Staff
Web-based retailer Amazon.ca has created two new online boutiques related to the Toronto International Film Festival and the Vancouver International Film Festival. The Toronto Festival boutique, at <http://www.amazon.ca/tiff>, carries films shown at past festivals, films from this year's profiled directors Atom Egoyan and David Cronenberg, and the top-10 classic Canadian films as chosen by Amazon.ca video and DVD editors. The Toronto Film Festival began Sept. 5 and will run until Sept. 14. Amazon.ca is also sponsoring the festival's Special Presentations program, which will showcase 20 films from 14 countries. The Vancouver Festival boutique, at <http://www.amazon.ca/viff>, carries films from notable Canadian filmmakers as well as the Best Documentary Feature, Most Popular Film and Most Popular Canadian film winners from past festivals. The Vancouver Festival will begin on Sept. 26 and will run until Oct. 11. Amazon.ca will be a premier sponsor and the official online film store of the event. When a customer enters either boutique through the festivals' official Web sites and makes a purchase, Amazon.ca will donate 5% of the sale to the corresponding festival. Public relations for Amazon.ca are handled by GCI Group.
