ROOTS SIGNS SALE AND PELLETIER

Roots Canada has signed Olympic figure skaters Jamie Sale and David Pelletier. The pair will appear in the Toronto-based retailer's fall 2002 national advertising campaign and in-store promotions in Canada and the U.S. Those promotions will include personal appearances at the opening of a Roots boutique at a Carson Pirie Scott store in Chicago on Sept. 13 and at Roots' flagship store in Toronto in late September. Roots was the official outfitter of the Canadian Olympic Team at the 2002, 2000 and 1998 Olympic Games. Sale and Pelletier won gold medals at the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympic Games. The retailer also outfitted the U.S. and British teams at the Salt Lake City Games. Roots will continue in this capacity for the Canadian, U.S. and British teams for the 2004 Athens Summer Olympic Games. Advertising for Roots is done in-house.
