CORUS ENTERTAINMENT CHANGES FORMAT OF ENERGY-FM STATION

Corus Entertainment is about to remake its Energy-FM radio station as Country 95.3. The station's studios and head office are in Hamilton, ON. The week-long transition to the new format will begin on Monday. Country music hits and teasers will be aired as a lead-up to the official format launch on Aug. 19. The station's signal covers southern Ontario. "In addition to providing our local listeners with a great sounding FM country music station, Country 95.3 fills a definite void, finally bringing to southern Ontario an upbeat, fun and vibrant FM country music voice," said Suzanne Carpenter, general manager of Country 95.3. An advertising campaign to promote the change will begin on Aug. 19. Print, outdoor and transit advertising as well as a direct mail campaign, created by Echo Advertising & Marketing of Toronto, will run in the station's coverage area. Country 95.3 will also share in the programming, talent and promotional initiatives of Corus' Country Music Television network, said Corus spokesperson Michelle Lee. Public relations for the debut of Country 95.3 are being handled by Holmes Creative Communications of Toronto.
