MARKETEL REMAKES ROGERS AT&T WIRELESS LOGO AS TENNIS BALL
By Adnews Staff
Montreal-based Marketel has transformed the yellow circle icon used in advertising for Rogers AT&T Wireless into a tennis ball for a new campaign in support of the Rogers AT&T Wireless Cup. The wireless carrier is the title sponsor of the women's tennis championships that will take place in Montreal from Aug. 10 to 18. Four 15-second animated television commercials are running during re-broadcasts of the 2002 Tennis Master Canada Tournament and the Rogers AT&T Cup on RDS and SRC. The first two ads show two tennis balls discussing the sport. The second two ads promote the Rogers AT&T brand and products. Print advertising in two Montreal dailies, bus shelter ads and the tournament souvenir programs also display the tennis ball creative. This advertising will be supported with a promotional campaign between Aug. 3 and Aug. 9. Promotional workers wearing the company's colours and carrying portable computers connected to the Internet will issue contest ballots to pedestrians. This contest is in association with radio stations CKOI and Mix 96. Prizes include tickets to the tournament finals and a trip to the 2003 event in Toronto. The yellow circle advertising concept used in television and print advertising by Rogers AT&T Wireless was created by Marketel last year.
