VANCOUVER 2010 UNVEILS COMMUNICATIONS CAMPAIGN
By Adnews Staff
The Vancouver 2010 Bid Corp. unveiled its communications campaign last week. Vancouver is an applicant city for the 2010 Olympic Winter Games and Winter Paralympic Games. The communications campaign, created by Lanyon Phillips Communications, focuses on the dreams of individual Canadians who look forward to hosting the 2010 Games. A series of print ads began running in newspapers and on transit shelters earlier this month. In one ad, Quebec's Nancy Drolet, a 1998 silver medallist, speaks of "setting the ice on fire." In another, Ontario aerial skier Steve Omischl speaks of "seeing how high he can fly." BC's Nancy Greene Raine, a 1968 gold and silver medallist in alpine skiing, speaks of "inspiring our kids to greatness." The campaign's tagline is, "Share your dream." Advertising space for the campaign has been donated by the Bid's media sponsors the BC Association of Broadcasters, National Post, The Vancouver Sun, The Province, VanNet Newspapers, Viacom Outdoor, Pattison Outdoor and La Presse. The International Olympic Committee will announce a shortlist of candidate cities for the 2010 Games on Aug. 29. The host city will be selected in July 2003.
