By Adnews Staff
The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission has awarded a licence to Cogeco Radio-Television Inc. The licence is to operate a new French-language FM radio station in Quebec City. Cogeco was one of four applicants vying for the 91.9 FM frequency. The others were 3924301 Canada Inc., which was doing business under the name Communications Levis, Metromedia CMR and 9098-7280 Quebec Inc., a subsidiary of Radio Nord Communications. Cogeco will operate a contemporary adult music station aimed at women 25 to 54 years of age. It will have a total of 77.5 hours per week of local programming. In other CRTC decisions, Genex Communications had its licence for CHOI-FM renewed for a two-year term and its application to amend the license of its CKNU-FM station denied.
