VINCOR BUYS QUEBEC WINE IMPORTER

Wine maker Vincor International has just gotten bigger. The company has bought Dumont Vins & Spiritueux Inc. of Quebec. With this purchase, Vincor gets a brand line that includes l'Oiseau Bleu, Santa Reina, Bellini apple vermouth and Du Marchand. These will be added to labels such as Inniskillin, Sawmill Creek, President's, L'Ambiance and Entre Lacs. Dumont is an importer and bottler of wines from Chile, South Africa and Germany. Its brands are sold mainly in Quebec. Vincor will be distributing more Dumont brands to other provinces but hasn't yet decided when. Not many brands will be available in Ontario because the province doesn't let importers bottle and sell non-Canadian wine unless it is blended with Ontario wine. English advertising for Vincor is done by Bozell Palmer Bonner of Toronto and French by PNMD/Publitel of Montreal. Communications bleu blanc rouge of Montreal handles advertising for Dumont. Vincor hasn't decided if it will keep BBR or give the Dumont brands to its own agencies.
