SUBARU SPOT PERMANENTLY PULLED

A television commercial for Subaru's Forester SUV will not return to the air. Called "Out of the Box," the ad was created for New Jersey-based Subaru of America by Temerlin McClain of Dallas, TX. It depicts a mother and daughter releasing a rabbit into the wild. The ad began running in the U.S. two weeks ago. Subaru Canada of Mississauga began running the spot last week but pulled it from Canadian stations after animal groups in the U.S. complained that a domestic rabbit could not survive in the wild. The commercial continued to run in the U.S. while Subaru of America considered the complaints. Geoff Craig, director of advertising for Subaru Canada, said Subaru of America pulled the spot from American stations on Thursday with no intention of re-releasing it. As a result, the spot will not return to Canadian television either.
