By Adnews Staff
The Internet Advertising Bureau of Canada has released the results of its 2002 Advertiser's Executive Survey. Conducted by ComQuest Research Inc., the survey polled 141 companies that do and do not advertise online. Participating companies were from the consumer services, business services, telecom, software, retail, packaged goods, durable goods, financial, entertainment, government, restaurant, non-profit and new media industries. According to the survey, 43% of these firms had advertised online in 2001. The average annual budget was $223,000. Of those who had advertised, 32% reported budget increases for 2002 online ad buys. Of those who did not advertise online in 2001, 25% expected to do so this year. An increase in the use of online contests and coupons was also reported, as were plans to increase spending on French-language, U.S. and foreign Web sites.
