CIBC AND SHOPPERS DRUG MART INTRODUCE CREDIT CARD
By Adnews Staff
The Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce and Shoppers Drug Mart have created a co-branded credit card that combines the functions of a Visa card with those of Shoppers Drug Mart/Pharmaprix's Optimum loyalty program. The CIBC Shoppers Optimum Visa card will allow members of the program to collect points for purchases made with the card. Cardholders will receive five points for every dollar spent at a Visa merchant in addition to points for purchases at Shoppers Drug Mart and Pharmaprix stores in Canada. There are approximately six million members in the Shoppers Optimum program, according to the company. The new card will be promoted with a full-page ad in Shoppers Drug Mart's new in-store magazine Glow, along with 800,000 direct mail pieces, an email campaign, in-store materials, flyers, shopping bags and a six-week billboard campaign in Toronto. The direct mail piece was done by FCB Toronto. The billboard campaign and in-store materials were done by Cossette Communication-Marketing.
