COCA-COLA'S NESTEA PLUNGE RETURNS
By Adnews Staff
Coca-Cola Ltd. of Toronto released new advertising for its Nestea iced tea this week. The 30-second television commercial makes use of the "Nestea Plunge" concept that was first used in the brand's advertising in the 1970s. Drinkers of the beverage are seen falling backwards into a pool of water. The new ad, called "World Wide Plunge", was created by Roche Macaulay & Partners of Toronto. It depicts anthropologist Arthur Hammond documenting the global impact of the Nestea Plunge. It opens with Hammond in North America. A woman playing tennis drinks Nestea and falls backwards into a pool of water that suddenly appears. Hammond says, "But what about places where there is no Nestea?" Hammond travels the world, watching people try unsuccessfully to take the plunge with beverages other than Nestea ice tea. The commercial will run in English Canada through the summer. Also, Coca-Cola will introduce a new Nestea flavour next month called Lemon Green Tea.
